Clinical Psychologist Merve Şişman Köse was accepted to the Clinical Psychology Master’s program of Marmara University after completing her undergraduate education at Kadir Has University, Department of Psychology. She has been graduated with high honors degree by successfully presenting her thesis titled ” The Relationship Between Perfectionism, Narcissistic Competition And Perceived Parental Attitudes In University Senior Students”.
French Lape Hospital, REEM NP, Derin Psychiatry, Luda Psychology, PADEM (psychological counseling center of Istanbul Şehir University) are among her internships during her graduate studies. She took responsibility in Maltepe University’s SOYAÇ Üsküdar project which was supported by TUBITAK. She has also worked in the Turkish Psychological Association’s KORDEP project and has provided online support voluntarily. In addition to projects, she has assisted the translation of various books into Turkish.
In graduate education, she received Dialectical Behavioral Therapy theory training by Assoc. Dr. Elif Çelebi. Choosing to specialize in schema therapy approach, she has received Schema Therapy theory training and group supervisions by Prof. Dr. Gonca Soygüt Pekak. Her individual supervision was provided by Psychologist Dr.Serap Piri Erbaş.
After her graduate education, she received ISTT approved basic schema training from Prof. Dr. Gonca Soygüt Pekak and continues the supervision process to become an certified schema therapist by the International Society for Schema Therapy (ISST).
In addition to schema therapy training, she completed “Eating Disorders Basic Training Module I: Basic Information on Eating Disorders” and “Eating Disorders Basic Training Module II: Basic Approaches in the Treatment of Eating Disorders” by Psychologist Dr. Feyza Bayraktar.
She has also completed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training by Prof. Dr. Ebru Şalcıoğlu.
In addition to individual therapy trainings, she has completed Gottman Couple’s Therapy Level I and II. Accordingly, she continues to work with couples as well.
She works as the head of the Trauma, Disaster and Crisis unit in the Istanbul branch of the Turkish Psychological Association. She is also a member of the Istanbul Branch Board of directors of the Turkish Psychological Association.
